my ceiling fan light quit working, not lgt bulb, fan works but in the dark in more ways than one! suggestions?

I turn the light and fan off and on with the remote but the remote doesn't control either now, however, the switch will turn the fan off and on (however, can't control speed of fan) but the light will not work!!! I've changed the batteries in the remote and also the light bulbs but I'm still in the dark and I didn't install the ceiling fan so don't know where to look to see what's wrong. Any suggestions?

Since it's just the light, the first thing you may want to check is to see if the wires haven't possibly come loose from the fan from vibration.

If the fan is working but the light is not, the problem is usually a loose connection between the power source and the light kit. Most fans have a black (or white) and blue wire in the light kit, where the blue usually controls the light. When the light is controlled by a pull string, the black/white wires coming from the fan are connected to the ground wire and the blue to the fan light wiring.

-- Be sure to turn off all power at the circuit breaker before working with any electrical wiring. --

Make sure the black/white and blue wires are connected inside the lighting box to their respective power sources. The light kit's white wire should be connected to the white wire(s) inside the switch housing and the same blue with blue. Be sure to also check that the light kit's pullchain is functional.

If all wires are connected and you still have no light working, you may have a short in your wiring. In which this case you may be better off just purchasing and installing a new fan if you don't have sufficient light without the light from the fan.

Hope this helps!
