I just installed a ceiling fan w/remote and now the wall light switch doesnt work. HELP?

The only way to turn on the light is by the remote. My intentions were to put the remote next to the bed and then when i come into the bedroom i would just use the wall switch to turn on the light. Did i wire it wrong or is this the way the fan is. I bought it at menards and it is a turn of the century fan.

have you tried turning the light on with the remote and then turning it off with the light switch? i'm guessing that the remote controlled switch inside the fixture when in the off position will not allow the electricity to go through it to then turn on the light, however it might let you turn the electricity off to the light when it's already turned on. you would have to probably find some way to jump the switch electricity over that remote controlled on/off switch. i don't recommend it but it's the only thing i can come up with.
