How can I get my ceiling fan bulb to dim again?
I recently had my ceiling fan bulb burn out which is a 100W/120V bulb (like this one: http://searchlighting.com/images/pics/lightbulbs/BULB_MiniCand_JD.jpg ). So I purchased another similar-looking bulb, a halogen, mini-candelabra, which everyone is telling me is dimmable. However, the bulb turns off and on with the wall switch, but the dimmer on the remote doesn't work. Could I have the wrong bulb? Or could the dimmer internally be broken -- I read one site saying the dimmer can arc and fail on a flash-white bulb burn out. I'm puzzled what to do next -- get a whole new fan, fix the dimmer somehow, or try to find some odd specialty bulb? Thanks for any advice!
How/where do I go about replacing the fan control board? Or is it cheaper to just replace the whole fan?
