Wattage Limiting Device in my Ceiling fan is blowing thru bulbs!?
I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan/light. I keep burning out light bulbs (they are mini hallogen sconce bulbs). The manual says that my fan is equipped with a "wattage limiting device" that will disable my lights is the "lamping exceeds 190 watts. To reset the light kit, turn off power and re lamp, keeping the wattage under 190". I understand the basics of these directions, but how do I figure out how many watts my ceiling wiring is? I tried a 100 watt bulb and a 150 and they both blew out after a couple weeks.
Thanks!
The unit is faulty. Replace it.
