Choosing the right ceiling fan

It’s hard to believe but there was something before air conditioners! Ceiling fans are what we need to do to save the environment and reduce utility costs for the home. There are many advantages that ceiling fans offer but choosing one properly is of utmost importance. Given below are a few tips to choose the right ceiling fans.

  • Where are you placing the ceiling fan? Is it in a small place or a big area? If it is in a big area you need a bigger fan that will help make the entire space cool but if you need one outdoors in the patio or gazebo you need a small one that fits in with the space.
  • You now have fans that are extremely ornate and well designed. You will find many varieties and colours. Victorian, oriental and solid colour fans add to the interiors of the space and make it come alive.
  • Think of the installation and make sure a fan can fit in a designated space. It is no use if you select a ceiling and find out that it’s too big or small as per the space you need it for.
  • Everyone works on a budget. Make sure you choose one that fits in you budget. This way you avoid over spending.
  • Like any other commodity, buying ceiling fans at one time for different rooms in the house is extremely practical. You are sure to get a discount and maybe even a concession on installation.
  • Choose fans that work well indoors and outdoors. So in case you need to switch fans around the house if one stops working then you have the option to do just that.
  • Think of the brand of the ceiling fan. Just because the fan is expensive doesn’t mean it good and just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s bad. Shop around and make an informed choice.
  • Make sure you buy a ceiling fan under warranty so if there are any problems and repairs they can be done quickly and with a minimal cost.
  • Always remember that ceiling fans are more economical to operate and aid ventilation of a space. In this way they facilitate health and good living.

Is there a huge difference between a 4 blade & a 5 blade ceiling fan?

We are getting ready to move and will be buying new ceiling fans for my kids' rooms. The rooms aren't very big (I don't have the dimensions). I wanted to decorate my son's room Atlanta Braves and my daughter's room My Little Pony. I found 4 blade fans, but have been told that 5 blade fans are better. How are they better?

They may be a little quieter.
But airflow, noise and efficiency are
all subject to several factors.
